About Lykke

Lykke Steenbach Josephsen
Born 1981

Over the last decade Lykke S. Josephsen has established herself as one of the most talented portrait painters on the Danish art scene.
Her portraits are striking, instinctive and driven by a deep understanding of the persons that she portrays, resulting in extraordinary, strong stories told in a beautiful visual language. Playing with the idea of personality, she often blends animal characteristics in the sitter’s features. Lykke’s works have been exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions in Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Spain and Hong Kong, China. In 2011, she was selected as one of the 40 finalists among 3.000 Nordic artists in the prestigious Brewer J.C. Jacobsen’s Portrait Award at the Museum of National History in Denmark and in 2013 Lykke was awarded as ‘One to Watch’ by Saatchi Gallery.
